An 18-year-old Hurst man was arrested Friday on a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge after crashing through a Texas A&M parking garage gate, authorities said.
Texas A&M University police said the man admitted to crashing through the traffic control gate at the South Side Parking Garage about 1 a.m. and driving to another parking lot, where he was stopped by a witness.
Police said the man had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, was unsteady and couldn?t perform several field sobriety tasks.
Results of a breath test were 0.168 and 0.163. A blood alcohol reading of 0.08 is the legal benchmark for considering a driver to be inotoxicated.
The man was being held in the Brazos County Jail. His bail had not been set Friday morning.
