Focus on the Family Community: Relationships and Marriage ...

Hello His child....Praise the Lord that the line of communication between you and your wife is still open! That is truly a blessing, so I can understand why you want to be prepared and to make the most of this opportunity.

?

The most important thing to do of course is to be in prayer and talk to God about it. He knows your situation better than anyone and will give you peace, guidance, and the words to say to your wife.

?

Also I would say, be a good listener. Just listen to what your wife is trying to communicate to you. It doesn't have to be right or wrong...it doesn't have to be debated or even have an answer. Just listen and validate her feelings.

?

I'm not saying that you should not have any input into the conversation, or not to be able to express your concerns; I'm just saying, when it's her turn to speak, try to understand and hear what she is trying to convey to you.

?

This may sound strange, but in just listening to your wife, it may reveal why she feels the way she does, and what could be done to correct it!

?

God's Word says...Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. (James 1:19 NIV)

?

I'm praying for you both. God Bless!

Kate Upton Photo Shoot: Too Hot For Santa Monica Pier!

Kate Upton's recent photo shoot for GQ (and likely Terry Richardson's personal use) was so risque, she was asked to leave the famed Santa Monica Pier.

The 20-year-old stunner and her photo crew were asked by security officials to leave after the Cat Daddy video vixen suffered a wardrobe malfunction.

The Sports Illustrated cover model was at the pier and amusement park when her skimpy bathing suit snapped in mid-ride ... as almost seen here:

"We were on a ride where the seat spins while the actual ride is spinning, and I’m wearing a one-piece. And all of a sudden the whole entire top falls off!" Upton recalled.

"I’m holding myself, laughing, turning bright red, but a lot of people are watching, so they kicked us out of the Santa Monica pier – it was so embarrassing."

"You wouldn’t think that would happen with a one-piece!"

You wouldn't, no. But so it goes. Follow this link for the Kate Upton bikini photos that resulted from the shoot before she was shown the exit.

Oh, and watch more behind-the-scenes video below, too:

Adam Levine Calls Christina Aguilera Feud Rumors 'BS'

'We bickered a little bit in the beginning. ... But I love her,' Levine says of his fellow 'Voice' judge.
By James Montgomery

Adam Levine at "MTV First: Maroon 5"
Photo:

Last month, just as "The Voice" was wrapping its second season, reports began to circulate about a growing feud between judges Christina Aguilera and Adam Levine, one that supposedly involved plenty of behind-the-scenes bitching, more than a few temper tantrums and (quite possibly) one very public use of the c-word.

Of course, given that the show was heading toward its finale, one could reasonably assume some of that drama may have been cooked up to draw in viewers, though there were on-air moments where the tension between Aguilera and Levine seemed very real indeed. So, when Levine and his Maroon 5 mate James Valentine sat down with MTV News to premiere their brand-new "One More Night" video, we had to ask him about the feud. And while Levine didn't deny on-set friction, he let it be known that things have truly been blown out of proportion.

"We bickered a little bit in the beginning, to be totally truthful, we had a little bit of a rough start, just kind of all getting to know each other," he said. "But I love her, she's the best, and we're having a fantastic time as of late on the set. She's great, and all of that is sensationalized media BS ... so don't worry about any of that."

And while Levine made it clear that he'd much rather be discussing Maroon 5's just-released Overexposed album, he understands that rumors like this are all part of living life beneath the glare of the spotlight. And he's not exactly losing any sleep over that fact.

"It affects you as much as you let it. I mean, I know the deal, so as long as I do, it doesn't matter what people say," he explained. "Think about if we listened to what people say all the time, imagine how crazy it would make you."

Jenkintown Bathroom Transformation | log for ... - Home Remodeling

We recently finished a bathroom makeover project in Jenkintown. The extreme flip over that this bathroom endured came out exactly how the client wanted. We gutted the entire space- floors, walls, appliances, you name it. What existed before the demolition was s imple and somewhat monotomous bathroom with outdated appliances. The clients wanted a total transformation- they wanted to turn this simple bathroom into a rich, fabulous space.

After we took everything down, we began selecting materials, colors, and appliances to accommodate the lavish bathroom that the clients wanted. They chose a pea green color to paint the walls with, allowing sunlight to reflect off of the color and radiant a warm tone. The green is paired with neutral earth tones in the tiling, which softens and balances out the highlight of the color.

The construction process was quite elaborate, as we were starting fresh, in an entirely gutted space. We constructed the tub, which sits in the corner on the room, with a view out of the window. Then, we installed a glass encased shower at the opposite corner, fixed with multiple shower heads recessed into the ceiling and walls for extra luxury. The shower features a red shower bench that is bolted into the wall and folds up to free space inside the shower.

Since we took out the existing door, this allowed for more space for a comfortable, freeing place to shower or bathe in. The vanity compliments the wall color and the chrome applianes add to the overall look. Recessed lights above the shower and tub can create a warmer and more seductive look. Needless to say, the client was extremely pleased!

'Ted' Stars Explain: How Do Teddy Bears Have Sex?

'He's a wild one, that boy,' Mark Wahlberg tells MTV News.
By Kara Warner

Ted as voiced by Seth McFarlane and Mark Wahlberg in "Ted"
Photo: Universal Pictures

Give "Family Guy" mastermind Seth MacFarlane his first R-rated, live-action feature film about a "living" foul-mouthed teddy bear co-starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis and things are going to get rather inappropriate rather quickly. Like teddy bears doing sexual things with vegetables, for example.

When MTV News sat down with the cast of "Ted" recently, we asked them to provide detailed explanations for how warm, fuzzy and filthy-minded Ted manages to have sex without the aid of any of the familiar tools, as it were.

"Well, he does a lot with the lips and tongue. A lot. Almost to the point that he's definitely going to get tongue cancer," Wahlberg deadpanned. "Yeah, he's a freak. He does freaky things with vegetables. ... He's a wild one, that boy."

Kunis started her explanation off with a more audience-friendly description.

"Kids these days like to do what I think is called 'dry hump,' so maybe the bear does that. He uses tools," she offered innocently.

As it turned out, MacFarlane provided the most straightforward-yet-slightly censored answer, possibly because he has to take all "Ted"-related subjects more seriously as the writer/director/voice of "Ted."

"We haven't ever really explained that. There's a scene where you see him having sex with [girlfriend] Tammy-Lyn in the back of the grocery store. We don't explain what's going on in there," MacFarlane said. "They are in a grocery store, there is a lot of produce and vegetables available, which, depending on what kind of imagination you have, could be a part of the process. I like to keep it sort of vague."

Check out everything we've got on "Ted."

Evolution could generate new semiconducting structures

The best semiconductors are grown, not made. At least, this might one day be the case. Proteins that can build silica nanostructures on our behalf have been "evolved" in the lab. The structures could find a use in the semiconductor industry.

Luke Bawazer, now at the University of Leeds, UK, and his colleagues wondered whether proteins that evolved to help build animal skeletons could be used to grow new electronics components.

The team chose silicateins ? proteins that build the silica skeletons of marine sponges ? as the basis for their work. Using DNA amplification techniques, they grew millions of strands of DNA that code for silicateins. Mutations arise naturally during the process, so the final pool of DNA contained enough variation to ensure that some of the silicateins would build different kinds of mineral structures.

The researchers then attached the DNA to polystyrene microbeads and placed them in a solution containing a silicon-rich compound. Bawazer's team was looking to select proteins that could draw silicon out of the solution to build silica structures around the beads, while still allowing access to the DNA on the surface of the bead. This would make it easy to collect and amplify the DNA that made the most promising structures. The end product? Proteins that built silica structures unlike any seen in nature.

With further evolution it should be possible to grow silica structures of the right size and shape for use in technological applications.

"It's quite ground-breaking," says Fiona Meldrum at the University of Leeds, UK, who was not involved in the study. Silica is the building block of semiconductors, so electronics are a natural application for such material.

Spectrum licensing is urgent ? ISPA - | SA IT NEWS

ISPA says spectrum licensing is vital to boosting competition in the telecoms market.

dcull 300x198 Spectrum licensing is urgent ISPA

Dominic Cull

The Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has called on Communications minister, Dina Pule, to urgently finalise policy directions on high demand frequency and the exploitation of the digital dividend.

ISPA says that this is vital to booting competition at all levels in the local telecommunications market. Dominic Cull, ISPA regulatory advisor, says that it is critical to address the licensing of available high-demand frequency in the short term. This, he adds, is the best possible way to increase competition in the market and to deepen broadband penetration.

?Competition in the provision of wireless wholesale and retail services will undoubtedly help address the existing ?affordability gap?. It is this gap which is currently preventing many South Africans from taking up broadband services. Moreover, ISPA?s members have already proved how competition results in price reductions, as evidenced by the current state of the ADSL market,? says Cull. The sooner the assignment process for the 800MHz and 2.6GHz frequencies is resumed, the better for all South Africans, he said.

Cull notes ISPA welcomes the focus the minister placed on mobile data pricing during her speech at the recent ICT Indaba, when she emphasised the need for an intervention in this area. This was important as it would help to empower small and large ISPs to compete with the incumbent providers he said. The organisation says it would make a significant short-term contribution to bringing affordable wireless broadband to all parts of the nation.

?ISPA?s members already have a track record of service innovation and pricing decreases, we need look no further than uncapped broadband as an example, in the fixed line broadband market. This has clearly been recognised by the minister, who has obviously noted that at present, there are only limited opportunities to compete with the Mobile Network Operators in the provision of mobile data services. This can, of course, be addressed on an infrastructure level by the licensing of available high-demand frequency,? notes Cull.

Cull states that the minister?s stance in this regard is clearly a positive one, but that ISPA further urges her to prioritise competition at the retail level. ?The MNOs, beside Cell C, do not offer any resale opportunities and do not appear to be interested in competing with each other, except on a marketing level,? he says. ISPA says it therefore believes that introducing genuine competition into the retail market will have a dramatic impact. This will be felt both in terms of service innovation and the affordability of mobile data services, concludes Cull.

Exercising Your Right To Say NO & Having Boundaries Isn't ...

One goat trying to tell the other what to do

Recently, I?ve had quite a few people expressing their concern about ?immaturity?:

?I?m trying to remain on good terms with them. If I stop being friends, I?ll look like I?m being really immature and that I?m throwing all of my toys out of the pram.? So you?re going to force a friendship while you internally writhe in breakup agony?

?Isn?t defriending on Facebook / unfollowing them on Twitter really immature?? ? Note that Facebook and Twitter are just websites, not God?s. These facilities exist to give you control over who you are connected with and to also reflect the severance of a relationship. In olden times, would you sit outside their house watching their life unfold? Er, no.

?I hoped that my obvious discomfort would put him off as I didn?t want to sound immature by saying something? ? She also worried about being rude, rejecting him, and then making things awkward, and so ended up having sex on the first date. She?s 45 and was on her first date after a divorce.

?It?s very, very immature to expect someone to be honest about their situation ? this is not how relationships work. For a start, me telling her from the outset that this wasn?t a relationship and reminding her practically every two weeks, should have been more than enough??We?re both adults ? I didn?t need to tell her about the other girl! Don?t be ridiculous!? ? He also added that it would have been ?mean? to be honest.

?I don?t want to look silly? ? This is the line of defence for everything from not declining threesomes that one doesn?t want to do, to why someone doesn?t want to express their unhappiness at being punched in the face.

When you?re accused of being immature about something, while of course it might be a genuine case of being under emotionally or intellectually developed, or not acting your age, most of the time, they?re effing you over in the name of being ?grownups? and then claiming you?re unschooled in the nuances of adult relationships.

It?s like ?Just be a man / woman about it!? Er, what? What you don?t realise is that someone who would sell you down the river if it meant serving their own needs, is actually claiming to have the high ground on you and implying that you should listen up and take note from someone ?in the know?.

Next thing, you?re supposed to leap up and take part in a three-way with a gimp suit or head into their whipping chamber without a backward glance in the name of being ?grown up? about things.

And let?s be real ? isn?t this whole covert, and actually sometimes quite aggressive attacking of one?s ?maturity?, how many women in particular, find themselves knee deep in sexual and other dangerous situations out of fear of saying NO and being far too worried about how they?re perceived? Hell, it?s how some women end up being put on the game by their so-called ?loving? ?partners? in the name of helping them out of a sticky patch.

When you think you?re being ?immature? or even ?frigid? for not wanting to go along with something, it?s actually a sign that you?re engaging with someone in conflict with your values and you?re doubting and basically not listening to yourself, because you?re too busy trying to hold onto or gain their approval.

Being accused of being immature, takes most of us back to being teenagers and that in itself may be more than enough to send us down the path of pleasing others so that we can avoid resurrecting old rejection wounds. Let us also not forget the fear of the conflict and criticism that may arise off the back of it.

As a teenager, when I didn?t cave to pressure, it was out of fear of the consequences, often because some of them were known (such as the perils of taking E) and I?d rather risk social consequences than try it. Sometimes it was my own discomfort and what I didn?t know was my own developing values speaking up.

It didn?t matter why someone thought I should be or do something ? what mattered was why I didn?t want to. Of course over the years, I said YES most of the time, because my own opinion stopped mattering to me.

How much does your own opinion matter to you?

When I?ve caved to pressure, it?s because of a perceived reward, or fear of consequences including change in how I?m perceived, rejection, or conflict. Sometimes it was naivety (or believing I was naive) and sometimes it was fear of being hypersensitive.

The truth is, it?s not immature to not want to text all the time and to not want to believe that someone who you don?t see very much or who keeps themselves at an emotional, communicative, and physical distance, is going to be a prospect for a full-on relationship. Is it really going to go from that to, for example, moving in?

It?s not immature to not want to go to a sex club (especially with a complete stranger or someone who has previously mistreated you), nor is it immature to not want to sleep with their friends, or go swinging, or just not want to have sex. IT IS YOUR RIGHT!

It?s not immature to expect honesty. Anyone would think you were asking them to diarrhoea (yes that?s what I said) their thoughts and give you the code and the key to their mind. Honesty in relationships is about not lying to and deceiving someone about the true nature of the relationship, your intentions, or any facts that would not only alter existing information held by the other party, but would remove the needed mutual love, care, trust, and respect required for a healthy relationship.

It?s also not immature to not want to be friends straight after a breakup ? it?s normal. It doesn?t mean you?re enemies (unless you actually are) but surely someone can?t expect to literally climb off you and the relationship and for you to just switch over to friendship mode? It?s like ?We?ve just broken up! Would you mind giving me a chance to pull my pants up and give me some breathing and literal space so I can come to terms with what?s happened? Jeez!?

Calling someone immature for being unwilling to play along with doing or being something that they don?t want to, is passive aggressive and at times outright bullying. Even worse, it is a sign of emotional immaturity on the part of the offender, that they are unable to empathise with your position and respect it, even if they don?t agree with it and it signals a parting of the ways.

Regarding yourself as immature for not being able to work up the appetite to screw yourself over, or for not being OK after the fact of screwing yourself over, is disrespecting yourself. You?re implying that having boundaries, having choices, and saying NO (irrespective of whether it makes sense to or suits the other party), whether it?s because it?s your preference or because you?re exercising your human right, is immature. Why agree with someone?s shadiness?

Is saying NO and having boundaries such a terrible thing?

This isn?t high school. You?re a grownup now and you don?t have to be or do anything that you don?t want to. It would also be a damn sight easier if instead of trying to force yourself to have someone?s values, or trying to convince them to change theirs, that you honoured your own values and found like-minded people who don?t trivialise your well-being, and who respect where you?re coming from. Maturity isn?t about doing what other people tell you but about being yourself and living your own life with authenticity and integrity.

Your thoughts?

Police seek person who fatally shot Denver officer

DENVER (AP) ? Denver police are still searching for the person who shot and killed a policewoman at a city park where families had gathered for a free weekly jazz concert.

Police arrested a man and charged him with gun possession. But they don't believe he's the shooter.

At least three shots were fired Sunday shortly after the jazz band playing on a lake-side pavilion stage finished. The shots sent waves of people running through park grounds.

Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said the officer was shot in the head and died at a hospital.
